SEDA Group* created the SEDA model in 2006, with the first program incorporating the SEDA model being delivered to 17 students in 2007. The SEDA model is now being successfully delivered across many parts of Australia and has been operational in South Australia through SEDA College (SA) since 2019.
The College chose the SEDA model as a result of the model’s success in engaging, educating and empowering young people. The College is licensed by SEDA Group to incorporate the SEDA model to deliver the Program in South Australia.
The SEDA model places student interest at the forefront of their Senior Secondary education, alongside a practical connection to industry. Students at our school are able to gain a first-hand insight into what it is like to be a part of South Australia’s leading organisations and sporting clubs.
Our ‘one teacher, one classroom’ model allows our teachers to take on a true mentoring approach, where they walk alongside and support the individual journey of our students as they complete their secondary education.
To maximise student learning and deliver industry-based experiences, classrooms are located in local community settings such as sport, recreation, and community facilities.
The SEDA model embraces a more applied, active, hands on approach to learning, which can often better meet the needs of many young people when compared to more traditional forms of teaching.
