Principal’s Welcome

As the Principal at SEDA College SA, a co-educational senior secondary college, I am excited to be able to offer a unique program that engages, educates and empowers young people in their education through their passion for sport.

At SEDA College SA, we change student’s lives by developing real-world skills that will prepare them for a successful future, as they move in to either further study or employment. Students at SEDA College SA develop a tailored career plan, undertake industry placements and community project work because this authentically develops their work readiness skills and enhances their awareness of self and others.

Simultaneously, all students work to achieve their SACE certification using an applied learning pedagogy where hands-on learning happens both inside and outside of the classroom. Through this applied learning model, students have a deeper connection to their education, resulting in enhanced engagement levels and better outcomes.

The SEDA model places students and their interests at the forefront of their senior secondary education. We do this based upon strong relationships, a practical connection to industry and through a highly-individualised approach to teaching and learning. Together, through our leading industry partnerships with Cricket Australia, South Australian Cricket Association (SACA), Netball South Australia, the Adelaide Crows, Football Federation South Australia (FFSA), Basketball SA, the Adelaide 36ers, and Adelaide Lightning, we provide a unique and quality learning environment that is underpinned by our core values of integrity, professionalism, innovation and collaboration.

The College Board chose the SEDA Group model as the foundation for SEDA College SA because of the model’s success in engaging, educating and empowering young people in Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The key component for this success is interest-based learning. Young people and their families can choose SEDA College SA because we will connect with our students’ interests and passions and nurture this as a tool for motivation.

Our ‘one teacher, one classroom’ model allows our teachers to grow strong relationships with every student. Our staff are specifically recruited for their capacity to build healthy and respectful relationships with students. Using a mentoring approach, teachers walk alongside and support the individual journey of each student as they complete their secondary education. In doing this, teachers work with each student to develop their confidence as learners, building independent skills in self-management, organisation, initiative and enterprise and self-motivation as well as growing their core capabilities in teamwork and communicating effectively.

On behalf of all at SEDA College SA, I encourage you to get in touch or attend our Information Sessions where you can find out more about how we engage, educate and empower young people so they grow in confidence and thrive.
